June 8, 2026 – NVIDIA and SK hynix announced a multi-year technology partnership to jointly develop next-generation memory essential for global AI factories and to apply AI technologies to semiconductor chip design and manufacturing. Under the agreement, SK hynix will co-develop specialized memory for NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin AI supercomputer, Vera CPU, RTX Spark PC, and Jetson Thor robotics computing platform, thereby entering new markets that NVIDIA is pioneering – AI infrastructure, personal AI, and physical AI.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said: “We already purchase billions of dollars worth of chips from SK hynix every year, and this year that number will grow significantly. The agreement with SK hynix will last more than two years, and we have the ability to continue renewing it.” In semiconductor manufacturing, SK hynix will use NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries and the PhysicsNeMo framework to accelerate chip simulation and lithography computation workflows; it will also leverage NVIDIA Omniverse and cuOpt to build digital twins of wafer fabs and drive autonomous factory operations.

As a critical component of AI computing hardware, High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) directly determines the performance of high-end GPUs and AI servers. NVIDIA’s new Vera Rubin computing platform has rigid demand for HBM4. During a visit to South Korea, Jensen Huang confirmed to the media that Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron have all passed NVIDIA’s qualification and have entered mass production of HBM4, each working at full capacity to ensure supply for the Vera Rubin platform.

The global AI industry is booming, driving surging demand for HBM, with the market remaining in a tight supply-demand balance for a long time. For NVIDIA, a stable and high-quality HBM supply channel is the foundation for the continued expansion of its GPU business and AI computing landscape. For Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron – the three companies that dominate the global mainstream computing memory market – securing large orders from NVIDIA means substantial profit growth and further consolidation of their industry positions.
