December 25, 2025, Shanghai, China — SmartSens Technology (stock code: 688213) recently announced the launch of the SC525XS, a high-end CMOS image sensor for mobile applications. The sensor features a 0.7μm pixel size and 50 million pixels, built on the company's SmartClarity-SL Pro technology platform and a 28+nm stacked process. It offers high dynamic range, low noise, fast focusing, and low power consumption, aiming to upgrade the performance of auxiliary cameras such as front-facing and wide-angle lenses in flagship smartphones.
The SC525XS incorporates SmartSens' proprietary SFCPixel-SL technology and a low-noise readout circuit, achieving a sensitivity of 1904 mV/lux·s and a read noise of approximately 0.86e-, which is about 38.6% lower than industry benchmarks. This significantly enhances brightness and detail in low-light conditions, supporting night selfies and low-light recognition.
The sensor supports dual-mode fast focusing: AllPix ADAF for full-pixel focusing in low-light environments, ensuring accurate and rapid autofocus, and Sparse PDAF for phase-detection focusing with only 6% of pixels in well-lit conditions, reducing power consumption while maintaining focus accuracy.
Additionally, the SC525XS integrates on-chip pixel remosaic (Remosaic) functionality, enabling direct output of 50MP high-resolution images and 12.5MP video without requiring SoC processing, freeing up SoC resources for AI image processing. Its low-power always-on (Always-On) feature also supports flexible multi-camera collaboration and imaging system configurations.
As a fully domestically developed high-end mobile image sensor, the SC525XS offers refined functionality and comprehensive performance, driving further independent upgrades in the imaging ecosystem of domestic flagship smartphones.
