Delivering High Precision and Energy Efficiency Across Wide Temperature Range
MALVERN, Pa., USA – SHANGHAI, China – March 24, 2026 – Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the release of its new series of phototransistor optocouplers, the VOx619A family. Designed to deliver highly linear current transfer ratio (CTR) under varying temperature conditions, the devices operate with a low forward current of 0.5 mA, enhancing precision and energy efficiency in industrial applications.
The VOx619A series is available in four package options: DIL-4, long creepage LSOP-4, compact SOP-4, and half-pitch SSOP-4. With support for high operating temperatures up to +125 °C, these optocouplers are well-suited for applications in micro-mobility, industrial systems, energy metering, communications, and consumer electronics.
Compared to previous-generation solutions, the forward current has been reduced by 50%, enabling more energy-efficient designs and lower power consumption. These devices are optimized for signal transmission with electrical and noise isolation in DC/DC converters, programmable controllers, and power supplies. They are also compatible with microcontrollers and other components with limited current drive capability.
While traditional optocouplers may experience CTR degradation of more than 50% at temperatures above 25 °C, the VOx619A series maintains a CTR of greater than 75% across the entire operating temperature range. This linear performance ensures high-fidelity signal transmission, which is critical for applications requiring precise data processing. Additionally, the series supports a wider temperature range than previous-generation devices (which were limited to +110 °C), guaranteeing reliable operation under extreme conditions.
Each device in the VOx619A series consists of an infrared emitting diode optically coupled to a phototransistor detector. The DIL-4 and LSOP-4 packages offer a maximum isolation voltage of 5000 VRMS, with creepage and clearance distances of ≥ 7 mm and ≥ 8 mm, respectively. The SOP-4 and SSOP-4 packages provide more compact options for space-constrained designs, featuring 3750 VRMS isolation voltage and creepage/clearance distances of ≥ 5 mm. The optocouplers are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and meet Vishay’s green standards.
